One Izard County man was killed, and another was injured when their pickup trucks collided Saturday morning in rural Independence County. Sixty-nine-year-old Terry Engles of Mount Pleasant was pronounced dead, and 32-year-old Patrick Thorburn of Melbourne was transported to the University of Arkansas for Medical Sciences in Little Rock.
According to the Arkansas State Police, Engles was on Arkansas Highway 69 when his truck crossed the center line and traveled in the opposite lane. Thorburn was traveling in the opposite direction, and the front left of both trucks collided with each other.
The road was dry, and the weather was clear at the time of the 7:43 a.m. accident.
