For over 60 years, the Baxter Health Auxiliary has been pivotal in having volunteers assist the hospital where needed, but it has also raised funds for special services and equipment needs at the hospital. One way funds are being raised is through the Bargain Box Thrift Shops in Mountain Home and Flippin.
Baxter Health Volunteer Services Director Becky Rose was a recent guest of the Talk of the Town on KTLO-FM, and she says the beginning of the auxiliary in 1962 came on a small scale, but it has ballooned since then.
Listen:
The shop in Mountain Home is located at 501 Coley Drive and is open weekdays from 9 to 4:30 and Saturdays from 9 to 1. The Bargain Box in Flippin is at 171 West Industrial Park Road, and its hours are 10 to 4 on Wednesdays and Fridays and 10 to 2 on Thursdays and Saturdays.
Rose says various items are donated to the Bargain Boxes on a regular basis for area residents to purchase later.
Listen:
The profits raised at the Bargain Box Thrift Shops will go toward several different needs at Baxter Health. The money could fund the cost of wheelchairs, renovations and even scholarship programs.
Rose says volunteers are always needed for the auxiliary, but especially at the Bargain Boxes.
