The Craighead County District Court received an unexpected delivery Monday morning when a “puff” of powder came out of an envelope.

According to the Jonesboro Sun, Jonesboro police dispatched to the Justice Complex after the deputy clerk discovered the powder in an envelope early Monday morning.

The envelope’s destination reportedly was supposed to be delivered to an inmate at the Craighead County Detention Center, but instead of a letter, it contained less than two grams of methamphetamine.

Public Information Specialist with the Jonesboro Police, Sally Smith, reports the deputy district court clerk who opened the letter was taken to a doctor, who then cleared her of any medical dangers.

There is no explanation for why the letter was delivered to the district court offices when it was addressed to the detention center.

No charges have been filed in the incident.
