
A Mountain View man has been arrested and charged with two felonys after his girlfriend reported alleged domestic violence while in a medical clinic.
According to the probable cause affidavit, the Stone County Sheriff’s Office dispatched to a call from the Stone County Primary Care Clinic for a report of a female inside the clinic wanting to report an incident of domestic violence. Authorities were advised the suspect was waiting outside the clinic for the victim.
Upon arrival, law enforcement spoke with a nurse who stated the victim had come into the clinic for a scheduled appointment. The victim told the nursing staff her boyfriend, identified as 52-year-old Michael Bliss, allegedly “beat the hell out of her” a few days prior. She added she was afraid he would kill her since he had recently choked and stabbed her. The victim stated she wanted to file a police report against Bliss to “get him away from me before he kills me.”
When officers spoke with the victim, body cameras captured her emotions as she described prior events. She stated she tried to make a report while she was at a doctors office in Batesville, but the officer told her since the incident occurred in Stone County, she would need to report it there.
The victim told officers Bliss had been cussing at her and she told him to leave. He started to choked her to where she could not breath. She stated he hit her several times and used a knife while threatening to kill her. Officers observed visible injuries consisting of bruising and scabs from puncture wounds along with visible redness in the whites of her eyes.
The victim told officers Bliss does not let her drive and will not allow her to go anywhere alone.
According to the report, Bliss is a convicted felon who is on active parole. He is also a registered sex offender.
Bliss was charged with felony counts of domestic battery and terroristic threatening. He was released from the Stone County Detention Center on $50,000 bond. Bliss was also ordered no contact with the victim.
