Columbia College men, Blue Mountain women win Battle at Big Creek

Several college golfers competed Tuesday in the final round of the Battle at Big Creek. Williams Baptist University of Walnut Ridge has been hosting the two-day event at Big Creek Golf and Country Club.

Columbia College of Missouri won the men’s side with a two-day total of 578, 13 strokes better than runner-up William Woods University of Fulton, Missouri. Missouri Baptist University of Creve Couer and the Blue Mountain College junior varsity team of Mississippi finished tied for third, Williams Baptist’s varsity squad was fifth, Mineral Area College of Park Hills, Missouri, ended up sixth, Central Baptist College of Conway took seventh place, Mississippi University for Women of Columbus finished eighth, Lyon College of Batesville was ninth, Fontbonne University of Clayton, Missouri, ended up 10th, Williams Baptist’s junior varsity team took 11th place, and Crowley’s Ridge College of Paragould finished 12th.

A.J. Martin of Blue Mountain was the individual medalist with a four-under-par 140. Jack Moran of Missouri Baptist and Sean Minor of Columbia College were tied for second as both finished four strokes back.

Blue Mountain took the women’s title with a total of 629, beating Columbia College by 18 strokes. The Mississippi University for Women ended up third, William Woods took fourth place, Williams Baptist finished fifth, Missouri Baptist was sixth, and Lyon ended up seventh.

Petrone Rudolph of Blue Mountain took the medalist honor with a total of 151. Emily Strunck of Columbia College and Riley Mayhew of Blue Mountain both finished three strokes back to end up tied for second.
