
An Izard County man faces additional charges for allegedly assaulting his cellmate after an argument.
According to the probable cause affidavit, the Izard County Sheriff’s Office was investigating an incident which had taken place in the jail between two inmates.
Officers reported an inmate activated the intercom and informed staff he was assaulted by cellmate, identified as 56-year-old Gary Doke. The inmate stated Doke was angry he was cleaning the cell and when he continued to clean, Doke grabbed him by the neck and pushed him into the corner. The inmate stated he was struck four times in the face with a closed fit and alleged Doke stated he would throw him over the top railing from upstairs in the pod. Doke was moved to a separate cell and jail administration was made aware of the incident.
In an interview with Doke. he stated he got into an argument with his cellmate over noise. He stated words were said and admitted to pushing his cellmate. Doke stated he would apologize to him, and he needed one in return. He stated no one was under any threat.
Doke was charged with a felony count of aggravated assault and a misdemeanor of terroristic threatening. He is currently in the Izard County Detention Center on charges of computer child pornography and distributing, possessing, or viewing of matter depicting sexually explicit conduct involving a child.
