Yellville-Summit girls win, boys finish 8th at Quitman Relays

The Yellville-Summit High School track teams were among the teams competing in the Quitman Relays on Thursday.

The Lady Panthers won the girls’ title. Rural Special finished 10th, and Mountain View was 11th.

Individually for Yellville-Summit, Kambree Gibson received the high point award as she won the 100-meter dash, the 200-meter dash, the 100-meter hurdles, the pole vault and the long jump and ended up second in the 300-meter hurdles and the triple jump. K.J. Moore won the 400-meter dash and took second place in the high jump, Fay Chism finished second in the 800-meter run and the pole vault, and Elle Lee was second in the shot put. The team of Moore, Sierra Burrow, Abby Methvin and Chism ended up second in the 4×400-meter relay; and Burrow, Hannah Hayward, Addison Decker and Methvin took third place in the 4×100-meter relay.

Among other area athletes on the girls’ side, Mountain View’s Ellie Akins finished second in the 1600-meter and 3200-meter runs, Rayleigh Turner of Rural Special was third in the triple jump, and Kylan Stevens of Rural Special ended up third in the shot put.

Yellville-Summit took eighth place on the boys’ side with the win going to Heber Springs. Rural Special finished 10th, Mountain View was 11th, Timbo ended up 18th, and Marshall took 19th place.

The Panthers’ top individual performance came from Tristin Teel as he finished fourth in the long jump. Cole Hubberd of Mountain View was second in the 300-meter hurdles, and Jacob Morris of Rural Special ended up second in the 800-meter run and third in the 1600-meter run.
