The Baxter County Sheriff’s Office it will participate in the National Take-Back Day program this Saturday from 10:00 until 2:00 in the parking lot of Orscheln Farm and Home, located at 1025 Highway 62 East in Mountain Home.
The National Take-Back Day program is designed to encourage the public to surrender expired, unwanted, or unused pharmaceutical controlled substances and other medications for destruction. The program aims to reduce the risk of illegal use and improve public health and safety.
The program is “No Questions Asked,” and the drop off location will accept pills and medications in the bottle or in a bag or other disposable container. People may remove any or all labels from the bottles or containers if they wish. The process is very easy; simply drive up and drop them off. Deputies will be present at the location to assist the public.
The program is part of a broader effort to combat the increasing abuse of pharmaceutical controlled substances. The event is intended to raise awareness of the dangers of pharmaceutical drug abuse and to provide a safe and convenient method of disposing of unwanted medications.
In addition, people may use the secure drop box at 206 West 8th Street, accessible at all times. The lockbox is under 24-hour recorded video surveillance for security purposes.
All pills and pharmaceuticals collected will later be destroyed using drug incinerator equipment. Anyone with questions about The National Take-Back Day or drop-off procedures may contact the Sheriff’s Office for information.
By participating in the National Take-Back Day program, the Baxter County Sheriff’s Office hopes to make a difference in the community by removing unwanted and potentially dangerous medications from homes and preventing them from falling into the wrong hands.
