Suspect in recent storage unit theft arrested following traffic stop

A Mountain Home man has been arrested for breaking into storage units. The arrest of 52-year-old Eric Jerome Harris happened Monday night when Arkansas State Police troopers stopped a vehicle displaying a stolen license plate.

According to the Baxter County Sheriff’s Office, the vehicle being driven by Harris matched one that was involved in a recent breaking or entering and theft from a storage unit in Mountain Home. Harris provided information to investigators that led them to two separate locations were over 50 items, which were stolen from the storage unit and valued at $3,000, were recovered and returned to the owner.

Harris is charged with two felony counts each of breaking or entering and theft of property. His bond is set at $25,000.

The sheriff’s office says the investigation is continuing.
