A 66-year-old man appeared in Baxter County Circuit Court Monday, pled guilty to charges in two drug-related cases and was sentenced to six years in prison with a judicial transfer to one of the Community Correction Centers in the state for addiction treatment.

The new cases opened on Herbert Leonard Kasinger, who lists an address along Capewood Drive in Midway, were filed in April last year and early January.

In the 2022 case, Kasinger was charged with possession of morphine and items of drug paraphernalia.

He was a passenger in a vehicle pulled over for a minor traffic violation on April 22, 2022. A search turned up two morphine pills wrapped in cellophane in the watch pocket of Kasinger’s pants.

Kasinger was arrested January 9 this year when a probation officer and a member of the 14th Judicial District Drug Task Force went to the camper trailer in which Kasinger lives to conduct a compliance visit.

A plastic bag containing a white crystal-like substance was found in the trailer and items of paraphernalia were also located.

The items included syringes, spoons and a set of digital scales.

Kasinger was given 30 days to turn himself in at the Baxter County Detention Center.
