A man from Mountain View has been arrested after authorities conducted a lengthy investigation leading to the findings of drugs, firearms and explosive materials. On May 25, investigators with the 16th Judicial District Drug Task Force and Mountain View Police Department executed a search warrant stemming from an investigation into 40-year-old Nathan C. Woods.
According to the probable cause affidavit, when law enforcement arrived at Woods’ residence, they reportedly knocked and announced their arrival where they received no entry. Authorities then entered the residence where Woods came out of his room and complied with commands to lay on the floor. A search of the residence was then conducted where multiple firearms, firearm magazines, ammunition, less than two grams of methamphetamine, multiple used and new baggies and a digital weighing scale were located in Woods’ bedroom.

Authorities note Woods is a convicted felon therefore prohibited from owning, possessing or using a firearm. A “sawed off” or altered shotgun and a homemade firearm silencer, threaded to fit a pistol, were also located in the residence. In the garage, authorities located a defaced pistol, a small amount of methamphetamine, bottles of tannerite and shotgun shells.

In an outbuilding behind the residence, authorities located three live improvised explosive devices, commonly referred to as an ‘IED’, plus other paraphernalia associated with making an IED.

Authorities state the Bomb Squad Personnel came to the scene to secure the IEDs and paraphernalia.

Woods was then transported to the Mountain View Police Department. In a post-Miranda interview Woods allegedly stated he has been buying, selling and trading guns to compensate for work.

When authorities asked Wood’s about the IEDs, he stated he made them before he went to prison and made them in anger to use against an individual, but “it was in the past.”

Woods is being held in the Stone County Detention Center on a $250,000 bond.
