A local school district is doing its part to make certain its students have enough food while classes are out for the summer. Izard County is delivering five free breakfasts and lunches to all of its students on a weekly basis.
According to the district, this is the fourth straight summer Izard County has provided the service. The meals will be delivered every Thursday all summer. The program started last week and will continue through Aug. 11.
In the district’s announcement, Izard County Superintendent Fred Walker said, “We are excited to provide this service again this summer to our students. It is a needed program and we have gotten many positive comments from our community. A big shout out to all our employees and parents who help make this service possible. It’s important to us to do whatever it takes to help our kids be healthy and successful. It is just another way we put our students first every day.”
