A man currently on parole has been arrested on multiple drug charges after authorities conducted a home visit Wednesday.

According to Baxter County Sheriff John Montgomery, 45-year-old James Clyde Ottenberg of rural Mountain Home, law enforcement sought to locate Ottenberg after it was learned he was no longer residing at the address he provided his parole office. Ottenberg was located at his girlfriend’s residence on Arkansas State Highway 201 South, where he had been living instead.

Officers confronted Ottenberg at the residence and was searched. Drug paraphernalia was found on his person along with various illicit drugs including methamphetamine, methadone, alprazolam, carisoprodol, tramadol, and marijuana was found in the residence and appeared to be packaged for resale. In addition, officers found naloxone, a substance used to counteract overdoses from the use of narcotics. The items were found throughout the residence, both in plain view and hidden, and were taken into evidence.

Ottenberg was arrested for possession of drug paraphernalia, possession of methamphetamine with purpose of delivery, possession of Schedule II controlled substances with purpose of delivery, two counts of possession of Schedule IV controlled substances with purpose of delivery, a penalty enhancement of being a habitual offender and parole violation.

Ottenberg is currently being held in the Baxter County Detention Center on $10,000 on drug charges, but is being held without bond for the parole violation.

The investigation is continuing, and an additional arrest is expected to be made.
