A former Baxter County man has been arrested after failing to register as a sex offender in Missouri.
Sixty-nine-year-old Carey Atwood has been labeled as a Level 4 sex offender, classified as a sexually dangerous person, in the state of Arkansas. This level stems from a conviction on Feb. 27, 2003 for second degree sexual assault in Baxter County.
According to The Licking News, on June 20, the Licking Police Department discovered Atwood allegedly had been living in a nursing home since March 9.
Atwood also allegedly failed to register with the Texas County Sheriff’s Department, which is required for convicted sex offenders.
The Licking Police Department is seeking charges for failure to register as a sex offender, a class D felony.
