A Marion County man has been arrested in Baxter County for allegedly stealing an EBT card and using nearly the full amount allotted.

According to the recently released probable cause affidavit in the case, on March 11, 2022, the victim reported to the Gassville Police Department someone intercepted his EBT card and used it to the sum of $857.85 out of the $858.00 available.

After investigating, it was determined the individual using the government assistance card was 31-year-old Jacob Deery of Flippin.

When authorities made contact with Deery, he allegedly attempted to lie about the use of the card until officials notified him they viewed video footage of him using it at several locations.

Authorities told Deery to bring the card and meet with them the next day. Deery contacted authorities on March 21 and stated he used the card at the request of the victim, but the victim denied the accusation.

The report states both the victim and Deery lived at the same residence for sometime and although the victim had moved out of the residence on February 5, the card was delivered after he moved. With the personal information left at the previous residence, Deeery allegedly set up and used the card. Officials state nearly the entire amount was used on February 7 and 8 of last year at several locations in Baxter County, with the card being used a total of 8 times.

Deery was booked into the Baxter County Detention Center July 5, 2023 with bond set at $3,000.
