2 area residents killed in separate accidents Wednesday

Two area residents, a man from Yellville and a man from Marshall, were killed in separate accidents Wednesday morning.

A crash in Yellville claimed the life of 61-year-old Michael A. Alvey of Yellville. Injured and taken to Mercy Hospital in Springfield was 52-year-old Shawn E. Johnson of Yellville.

The Arkansas State Police report indicates the accident happened when Johnson’s vehicle crossed the centerline and struck the vehicle driven by Alvey. Alvey’s vehicle, a 1986 American General military vehicle, then left the roadway and struck a tree.

The accident happened on U.S. Highway 62/412 at the eastern city limit of Yellville at 9:49 Wednesday morning.

A crash in Searcy County claimed the life of a bicyclist. Killed was 65-year-old Charles N. Henrikson of Marshall.

The Arkansas State Police report says Henrikson was riding his bicycle north in the southbound lane of U.S. Highway 65 when he was struck by a southbound vehicle.

The name of the driver of the car was not released.

The accident happened just south of Marshall at 6:40 Wednesday morning.
