Stone Co. woman faces charges for breaking into mother’s home, stealing cash

A Stone County woman faces charges after allegedly breaking into her mother’s home and stealing cash and credit cards.

According to the probable cause affidavit, on Aug. 8, the Stone County Sheriff’s Office received a report of a residential break-in. In the early morning hours, the victim told deputies that she was awakened by her daughter, 19-year-old Kelyn Cochran, going through her purse and stealing money and credit cards.

The victim stated she and Cochran had recently had an argument, and Cochran had broken into the home through her old bedroom window. In addition, the victim reported Cochran had broken into the victim’s personal and work vehicle, where she had allegedly taken money. The victim stated she had found cash and credit cards on the ground outside of her home.

Cochran is facing a felony count of breaking or entering along with a misdemeanor count of theft of property. She is currently being held in the Stone County Detention Center on $10,000 bond.
