Storms lead to power outages; 2023 enters top 10 for wettest Augusts

Minor damage has been reported in the Twin Lakes Area from Monday’s early morning storms, and a portion of local residents are without power. In addition, 2023 has entered the top 10 for wettest Augusts.

At 5:45 Monday morning, outages had been reported by Entergy Arkansas to four customers in Baxter County, 73 in Marion County, six in Searcy County, 56 in Stone County and 55 in Boone County. White River Valley Electric Cooperative reported outages to 67 members in Marion County, 37 in Ozark County and five in Taney County. In addition, Fulton County had 147 members of North Arkansas Electric Cooperative without power.

At KTLO, Classic Hits and The Boot, the official reporting station for the National Weather Service in Mountain Home, 1.81 inches of rain have fallen since 7 Sunday morning. That brings the monthly total to 7.38 inches, currently making this month the sixth wettest August in recorded history.
