A man from Fort Smith was arrested after he pulled a knife on Mountain Home Police officers who responded to a report of a suspicious person last week. The altercation led to several charges against 30-year-old Jady Allen Brannon.

According to the probable cause affidavit, police were called to the business on State Highway 5 North regarding a suspicious man outside of the establishment.

While officers were questioning Brannon, he refused to identify himself and appeared to be in an “altered mental state.” Brannon told police he did not like their body worn cameras and did not want them around him.

Brannon began backing away from police and tried to leave the area. As one of the officers grabbed his wrist in an attempt to detain him, Brannon pulled a fixed blade knife from his pocket and held it over his head.

The two officers pulled their guns and ordered Brannon to put the knife down. A third officer arrived and deployed his TASER, causing the suspect to fall to the ground and drop the knife which he had placed at his own throat.

Brannon was tased a second time due to him resisting all three officers who were attempting to place him in handcuffs.

Brannon is charged with a felony count of aggravated assault along with misdemeanor charges of resisting arrest, carrying certain prohibited weapons and being a habitual offender. His bond is set at $25,760.

Brannon has three prior arrests in Newton County on charges which include aggravated assault on a family or household member, terroristic threatening, possession of firearms by certain persons, criminal use of prohibited weapons and resisting arrest.
