A reported physical domestic incident in Clarkridge resulted in a man and a woman being arrested, and while in custody, the female allegedly made a death threat to the male. Sixty-one-year-old James Aspan and 54-year-old Beverly Miskanin are both facing charges of third-degree domestic battery, and Miskanin is also facing a count of terroristic threatening.
According to the incident report from the Baxter County Sheriff’s Office, a deputy arrived late Tuesday afternoon at a residence on County Road 1425 and made contact with Aspan, who stated, “She hit me, and I want her gone.” A female, identified as Miskanin stepped out with blood on her face, and a deputy separated them on opposite ends of the yard.
The deputy first talked to Aspan, who stated Miskanin was invited to his residence to help care for him following a recent dog attack. Aspan claimed he and Miskanin have had multiple issues with each other in the past. He stated they had just returned from her dentist appointment in Springfield, and he asked her to assist in cleaning up with his bandages. Miskanin allegedly became irate, and Aspan told her that was the reason she was at the residence. When he reportedly attempted to kick her out of the house, she allegedly broke the screen door and punched him in the face, and he defended himself as the deputy arrived.
The deputy then spoke with Miskanin, who confirmed the dentist appointment. She claimed Aspan had been rude to her the entire day, and it only escalated once they returned to the residence. Miskanin alleges Aspan attacked her and bashed her head into the door.
Ambulance personnel and another deputy arrived on the scene. As the ambulance crew checked on Miskanin’s injuries, Aspan reportedly showed the first deputy where the bedroom door was damaged, and the deputy observed small dents in the door and a part of the door jam on the floor. The deputy then observed the screen door with the latch plate damaged, and there was also some blood on the front door and the floor around it.
Aspan then pulled out his phone and showed the deputy footage from what reportedly came from his security camera. The deputy states the video shows the two arguing and Aspan attempting to push Miskanin out the front door. Miskanin reportedly yelled at Aspan, and he repeatedly tapped on her nose with his finger. Miskanin allegedly punched Aspan on the left side of his face, and he did the same to her, causing her to fall to the floor.
The deputy advised both suspects they were being arrested for domestic battery. Aspan reportedly went into custody without incident, but Miskanin threw a fit about her dogs inside her vehicle. Baxter County Animal Control arrived after being contacted and took the dogs. Miskanin reportedly threw another fit claiming she wasn’t allowed to retrieve her property from the porch of the residence, but the deputy claims she had time while waiting for animal control.
Miskanin was placed in handcuffs and was being escorted to a patrol vehicle. She allegedly stopped at the other patrol car, pointed at Aspan and said, “You’re a dead man.” The deputy informed her a charge of terroristic threatening would be added.
Both are free after posting bond. Miskanin’s bond was set at $1,000, and Aspan’s was at $500.
