
The heat throughout Arkansas has pushed back the start times for several area teams’ season openers, including Mountain Home.
The Bombers’ game with Nettleton Friday night in Jonesboro will kick off a half hour later than originally scheduled at 7:30. Coverage on Classic Hits 101.7 will begin at 6 with Electric Cooperatives of Arkansas High School Gameday followed by the Steve Ary Show.
Also on Friday, Yellville-Summit’s game with Baptist Prep in Little Rock and Melbourne’s game at Bald Knob will kick off at 8. Harrison’s game at home against Springdale is now set for 7:30. On the eight-man level, Izard County’s game against Cedar Ridge at Newark will start at 8.
The heat is also forcing time changes for junior high football. Mountain Home’s eighth grade and freshman teams will play at Jacksonville starting at 6:30 on Thursday. Salem will host Earle Thursday with a 7 p.m. kickoff. Melbourne will play its junior high game at Hoxie Thursday at 7:30, and the seventh grade game is canceled. Harrison’s home game with Russellville has been pushed back to 8. In eight-man football, Izard County’s seventh grade and junior high teams will host Cedar Ridge Thursday starting at 8.
