An area man with a lengthy criminal history is facing new charges after allegedly physically assaulting a woman earlier this week and fleeing from law enforcement. An arrest warrant has been issued for 49-year-old Ronnie Dayberry of Mountain View.
According to the probable cause affidavit, Mountain View police were called to a residence Tuesday evening for a domestic dispute. The victim told authorities she and Dayberry had arrived home and she said something Dayberry didnt like and he started hitting her, and then took her phone and ran into the woods. She was able to grab his phone and said she was calling the police. Dayberry then allegedly punched her in the face and ribs several times.
Police noted the victim had a black eye, a busted lip and bruising on her stomach and legs. She left the residence with a family member.
Police searched the area, but were unable to find Dayberry.
About an hour later, an officer drove by the residence and noted the front door, which had been left open, was closed and lights in the home had been turned off. Other officers arrived and while they tried to get Dayberry to come to the front door, he ran out the back door into the woods. Officers were unable to locate him.
Dayberry is facing a felony charge of domestic battery in the second degree and misdemeanor charges of interference with an emergency communication device and fleeing. His bond will be set at $75,000 when he is apprehended.
Dayberry has multiple previous convictions including domestic battery, theft, computer fraud, criminal mischief and drug possession.
