In July, the Marion County 4-H members participated in the 4-H State O’Rama on the campus of the University of Arkansas, along with more than 300 youth, county staff and volunteers from 51 of the 75 Arkansas Counties.

Marion County Extension 4-H Agent Billie Collins states this was the first in-person State O’Rama since 2019.

The FCS Consumer Decision Making Team comprised of Kaylee Cheek, Taylor Henley and Rebekah Rozeboom placed first and qualified to compete at the 4-H FCS National Championship and Conference in San Antonio in Janury.

Breanna Rozeboom Van Sickle placed first in ATV Safety; Roland Neptune placed fifth in Welding; and Cleo Neptune was in the top 10 for Archery.

The group was accompanied by 4-H Leader Glenda Rozeboom and Extension 4-H Agent Billie Collins.

4-H is a youth development program operated by the Cooperative Extension Service, part of the University of Arkansas System Division of Agriculture. The program is said to teach participants life skills through the “learn by doing” model. Program participants are said to gain knowledge through non-formal, science-based, experiential education activities.

For information about getting children ages 5-19 involved in 4-H, contact the Marion County Extension Office at 870-449-6349.
