
Mountain Home was able to win two out of three volleyball matches as they hosted two different schools from the Jonesboro School District on Tuesday.
The Lady Bombers picked up their first varsity win of the season as they defeated Jonesboro in straight sets with scores of 25-16, 25-18 and 25-17. Carson Schmitz led Mountain Home with 18 kills; Anna McCarn had nine kills and seven blocks; Ali Czanstkowski finished with four kills, 18 assists and 11 digs; and Addison Martz recorded 19 digs, four assists and three aces. The Lady Bombers improve to 1-3 on the season.
Mountain Home did not fare as well in the junior varsity match. Jonesboro needed all three sets, but they were able to beat the J.V. Lady Bombers 17-25, 25-22 and 15-11. Mountain Home was led by Deanna Human with six kills, two aces and four blocks; Kendra Medley added six kills; and Cara Jackson had five kills, 18 assists and two aces.
Mountain Home’s junior high squad needed all three sets, but they were able to beat Douglas MacArthur 18-25, 28-26 and 15-10. Annyston Crooker led the Junior Lady Bombers with 12 kills and three blocks; Brytlee Burroughs ended up with seven kills, two digs and an ace; Aleigh Lucas chipped in six kills; Ava Jones had three kills, 10 assists, two digs and an ace; Violet Daugherty finished with 16 assists, four digs and two aces; and Maddie Simmons recorded 10 digs and two assists. Mountain Home improves to 1-2 on the season and 1-0 in the Northeast Arkansas Conference.
Elsewhere, the Flippin High School team ended up losing at home in straight sets. Dover topped the Lady Bobcats 25-12, 25-11 and 25-16.
Yellville-Summit also suffered a loss in front of its home crowd. The Lady Panthers fell in four sets to St. Joseph from Conway.
Salem went on the road and finished with its first conference loss this year. The Lady Greyhounds were defeated by Valley Springs in four sets.
Bergman suffered a conference defeat in front of the home fans of the Panther Palace. Rose Bud topped the Lady Panthers in four sets with scores of 22-25, 25-23, 25-12 and 25-7.
