
Nine area high schools are in the top 100 in Arkansas according to new rankings released by U.S. News and World Report. The magazine uses six weighted categories to determine its rankings for each state and its national rankings. College readiness is the biggest part of the formula at 30%. Factoring into the formula at 20% each are state assessment proficiency and state assessment performance. Getting 10% each are college curriculum breadth, underserved student performance and graduation rate.
The highest ranked area school is Valley Springs at number nine in the state and 1,119 in the nation with a score of 93.67 out of 100. Mountain View is the second highest ranked area high school at number 41 in the state with a score of 79.56 out of 100.
Other schools ranked in the top 100 include Harrison at 44, Yellville-Summit is number 50, Salem is 51st, Bergman is ranked number 56, Rural Special is 65th, Cotter is number 77, Melbourne is number 93 and Flippin is number 100.
Mountain Home High School Career Academies is ranked number 106 in the state by U.S. News and World Report. Mountain Home’s score is 59.63 out of 100.
Other rankings include Norfork at 124, Omaha is number 127, Calico Rock is 134th, Marshall checks in at number 136, Izard County is number 151, Mammoth Spring is 176, Jasper is ranked number 207, Lead Hill is 215th, Viola is number 220 and Deer is number 228.
Two schools were listed as being ranked between 229-277. They are Mount Judea and Western Grove.
Three schools were unranked. They are Bruno-Pyatt, St. Joe and Timbo.
Across southern Missouri, Branson is the highest ranked high school at number 51 in the state. West Plains is number 124, Dora is ranked 140th, Hollister is number 170, Forsyth is ranked number 189, Bakersfield checks in at number 205, Thayer is 210th and Gainesville is ranked number 266.
Ava and Bradleyville are listed in the schools ranked between 299-455.
Lutie is unranked.
The highest ranked school in Arkansas is Haas Hall Academy in Fayetteville with a score of 99.75 out of 100. They are ranked number 45 in the nation.
