The Mountain Home High School football team picked up a regional honor courtesy of a partnership between a Jonesboro television station and an ice cream manufacturer. KAIT announced Tuesday the Bombers’ opening score of the game against Harrison was the Yarnell’s Sweetest Play of the Week for northeast Arkansas.

Mountain Home got on the board nearly three minutes into the game. Quarterback Cade Yates, who wore No. 15 in memory of former assistant coach Ryan Mallett, threw the ball into the end zone from 28 yards out, and Jett Hannaford made the one-hand catch for the touchdown. The Bombers went on to beat the Goblins 44-31.

Mountain Home ended up with 1,440 votes in the poll. Second place went to Paragould’s Corbin Bailey for a scoop-and-score, Nettleton’s Curtez Smith was third with his 84-yard touchdown run, and Hoxie finished fourth on a touchdown pass from Kayden Glenn to Jake Jones.

For winning the award, Yarnell’s will give free ice cream and donate to the Bomber Booster Club.
