A Stone County woman has been arrested after allegedly firing shots at her elderly parents and hitting her dad with a board. Forty-six-year-old Sandy Berry of rural Mountain View was arrested following the incident Sept. 24 at her parents’ house.

According to the probable cause affidavit, Berry was attempting to get her mother, who has dementia and is unable to talk, to change clothes. The two started arguing and pushing each other. It’s alleged the mother swung a metal rod at the suspect which led Berry to push her mother to the ground.

When Berry’s dad intervened, he says Berry hit him in the head with a board. He says Berry then went into her house and came back into the yard with a handgun. The father says he and his wife ran for their house next door and Berry fired three shots.

Berry told deputies she fired the gun into the air. She said, “I want them off my property or one of them is gonna get killed.”

The 84-year-old-man was taken to the Stone County Medical Center for treatment of his injuries.

Berry is facing three felony counts of aggravated assault on a family of household member. Her bond is set at $25,000.
