Mountain Home NJROTC defeated in week one of National Air Rifle League competition

Mountain Home NJROTC was defeated by Milton NJROTC 971.6 to 836.3 last week in the 2023 National Sporter Air Rifle League.

Mountain Home NJROTC was led by Dylan Prins who shot a 220.2. Additional contributing members were Emerson Walls, Ethan Darracq, and Justin Kubistek and is coached by Jason Williams. They are competing in the Distinguished Division and are currently ranked in 40th place. Within the Navy JROTC Conference they are in tenth place with an 0 – 1 record.

Milton NJROTC from Milton, Fl. was led by Mason Maxsom who shot a 251.0. Additional contributing members were Jack Bailes, Lilyanne Barnes, and Pheobe Delacruz. They are competing in the Distinguished Division and are currently ranked in 22nd place. Within the Navy JROTC Conference they are in sixth place with a 1-0 record.

This week Mountain Home NJROTC has a bye week.

In each game the teams compete in what is known as a Three-Position Air Rifle match. The match is modeled after Olympic Rifle competitions but adapted to high school age athletes. Each athlete will shoot 10 shots in three different shooting positions, prone, standing, and kneeling. Each shot is worth a maximum of 10.9 points. The sum of points scored in the 30 shots is the athlete’s total. The team score is comprised of the best four athletes from each team.
