The Ozark County Times newspaper won eight awards, six of them by Editor Jessi Dreckman, in the Missouri Press Association’s 2023 Better Newspaper Contest, which judges work written, designed and published in 2022. The awards were handed out at a recent ceremony in St. Louis.
The Times won first place in the best overall design category, the most coveted award for a newspaper.
Dreckman won two first place awards, winning the categories of best news or feature series and best story about the outdoors.
Dreckman took home a pair of second place honors, including for best story about education and best story about the outdoors.
Dreckman also won two third place awards. The categories were best business story and best coverage of rural life of agriculture.
Sue Ann Jones won a third place award in the best news or feature obituary category.
The Ozark County Times competed against newspapers of similar circulation size across Missouri.
