The Izard County Sheriff’s Office is investigating the death of child.
According to the Izard County Sheriff’s Office, on Sunday at approximately 2:55, dispatchers received a report of a 1-year-old child being struck by a vehicle in the 3900 block of Lunenburg Road outside of Melbourne. Deputies, as well as Melbourne first responders, Vital Link and Survival Flight responded to the scene. Life saving efforts were performed but not successful.
Authorities do not suspect foul play at this time and the incident is being investigated as an accident.
