Mountain Home’s hopes for home field advantage in the postseason were dashed on Friday. The Bombers ended their regular football season with a 34-20 loss at the hands of Greenbrier.

After the Panthers struck first, Mountain Home answered with a six-play, 71-yard drive ending with a three-yard run by Chris Hubbard. Greenbrier wrapped up the first half on a 14-0 run to go into the locker room up two touchdowns. The Bombers answered early in the third quarter on a screen pass from Cade Yates to Hubbard that went 55 yards for the score. Mountain Home cut the margin to one after Jacob Chenowith went over his defender to catch a pass from Yates and take it 64 yards for the touchdown. However, the Bombers could get no closer as they committed three turnovers in the game, and the Panthers scored twice more to seal the win.

Hubbard had 31 carries for 139 yards and a touchdown and caught three passes for 78 yards and another score. Yates was 9-of-19 through the air for 217 yards, two touchdowns and two interceptions.

Mountain Home falls to 5-5 on the season and 3-5 in the 6A-West. Greenbrier improves to 5-5 and 4-4.

The Bombers will begin the Class 6A State Playoffs next week by going to Little Rock Catholic. It’s unclear on when the game will be played due to the Rockets sharing War Memorial Stadium with Little Rock Parkview.
