An 80-year-old man who was upset with his roommate over rent money, shot and killed the man in Taney County. Jailed on second-degree murder, and several other charges, is Charles Vernon Tinker of Bradleyville. Tinker admitted to not calling for help or providing first aid after the shooting.

The victim is identified as 52-year-old Jon Lovelace.

According to court documents in the case, when law enforcement and EMTs arrived on scene, they requested a helicopter ambulance, but Lovelace died at the scene before the chopper arrived.

Tinker made comments to deputies that he shot Lovelace during an argument, saying Lovelace was living at the house and not paying rent or additional costs of living. Tinker says Lovelace had threatened to kill him, so he got his gun and intended to shoot the victim in the leg.

Tinker admitted after shooting Lovelace, he went back inside the house, did not call 911, did not check on the victim and did not render aid. He also told investigators had had consumed four shots of whiskey prior to the incident.

Tinker is facing felony charges of second-degree murder, armed criminal action and unlawful use of a weapon. He is being held without bond in the Taney County Jail.
