
One of the issues the Ozark Mountain Solid Waste District Board of Directors will be tackling in the future concerns electronic waste, or e-waste, and how residents will be able to properly dispose of it. The district is reportedly no longer able to provide funding to its recycling centers to handle e-waste.
Mountain Home Mayor Hillrey Adams says the money is no longer available after the state of Arkansas seized funding to the solid waste districts.

E-waste items that have been collected by the Baxter Day Service Center include computers, telephones, cellphones, copiers, cables for electronics, VCRs, DVD players and old stereos. Adams says it’s not clear if the center would be able to continuing accepting e-waste, but if that’s the case, there are a couple of other ways of disposing it that the solid waste district is hoping to avoid.

Adams says he expects the board to address the e-waste issue in future meetings, but it will not be an easy problem to solve.
