Tuesday basketball results include Yellville-Summit splitting with Alpena at Northark tourney

Several area teams began a week of tournaments on Tuesday.

The North Arkansas College Invitational Tournament got underway at the Pioneer Pavilion in Harrison.
Yellville-Summit’s boys were able to advance to the quarterfinals as they defeated Alpena 57-44. The Panthers will return to Northark on Thursday to meet top-seeded Mountain View.
Yellville-Summit did not fare as well on the girls’ bracket as they fell to Alpena 48-40. Top-seeded Norfork will be the Lady Leopards’ next opponent on Thursday.
Lead Hill’s boys were one and done as they lost to Ozark Mountain 55-41. Kaden Baker led the Tigers with 15 points, and Koda Lemon added 11. For the Bears, Marcus Fields and Kooper Baker each scored 13 points, and Tate Dixon and Mason Gilmore each chipped in 12. Ozark Mountain will face Marshall in their quarterfinal game on Thursday.
The night wasn’t any better for the Lead Hill girls. The Lady Tigers were eliminated by Ozark Mountain 73-38. The Lady Bears will take on Mountain View on Thursday.
Both of Lead Hill’s teams return to the home floor Jan. 5 for an outing with Deer.
Norfork’s boys were able to advance to the next round. The Panthers were set to play Mount Judea, but the Eagles ended up forfeiting the game.

Three area boys’ teams played their openers in the Cabool Holiday Tournament.
Viola fell to Eminence 74-53. The Longhorns were led by Gabe Martin with 20 points, and Braden Williams had 11.
Gainesville moved to the quarterfinals after beating Summersville 62-52. Grant Leeker was the Bulldogs’ top scorer with 13 points, Jace Headrick finished with 12, and Andrew Hambelton ended up with 11.
Dora was sent to the consolation bracket with a 72-61 loss to Cabool. Carson Howard led the Falcons with 15 points, Wilson Masters scored 12, and Brayden York added 11.

The inaugural Lady Bulldog Classic began its run in Gainesville. Bakersfield nearly doubled up Dora 57-29, and Gainesville topped Cabool 36-22.

The Izard County boys had a successful opener in the Bad Boy Mowers Ronnie Brogdon Invitational at Highland as they defeated Mammoth Spring 54-31. The Cougars were led by Gabe Spray with 12 points. Izard County improves to 9-5 on the season, and they’ll play Thursday in the quarterfinals of the Maverick Division against the winner of Wednesday’s game between Cedar Ridge and Lincoln. The Bears will get the loser on the consolation side of the bracket.
