Tuesday basketball results include Norfork splitting with Greers Ferry West Side

The Norfork High School basketball teams had mixed results on Tuesday as they went to Greers Ferry to take on West Side. The Lady Panthers had an easy win over the Lady Eagles 57-35. The boys’ game had a different result as Norfork fell to West Side 64-45.

Yellville-Summit split its high school games with Ozark Mountain at Western Grove. The Lady Panthers beat the Lady Bears 53-35. Yellville-Summit’s boys did not fare as well as they lost to Ozark Mountain 60-42.

Viola was swept in its home games by Concord. The Lady Longhorns were toppled by the Lady Pirates 63-46. Viola also fell to Concord 68-44 in the boys’ contest.

Salem ended up with a split in its high school games with Tuckerman. The Lady Greyhounds beat up on the Lady Bulldogs 55-31. Salem was not as fortunate in the boys’ game as they lost to Tuckerman 75-53.

Izard County came away with a sweep as they hosted Cedar Ridge for four games.
The senior boys’ contest ended with the Cougars defeating the Timberwolves 68-60. Gabe Spray was Izard County’s top scorer with 29 points, Jude Everett ended up with 19, and Kasen Black added 10. The Cougars improve to 13-6 overall and 5-3 in the 1A-2.
Izard County’s senior girls also topped Cedar Ridge 67-51. Quinn Johnson paced the Lady Cougars with 27 points, and Makensie Yancey chipped in 18. Izard County is now 13-5 on the year and 5-3 in the league.
The Izard County junior boys needed overtime, but they were able to get past Cedar Ridge 53-52 when Kade Yancey hit a three in the corner to beat the buzzer. The Junior Cougars were led by Benaiah Spray with 15 points, Yancey scored 12, and Aaron Dockins had 10. Izard County is now 11-5 on the season and 5-0 in conference play.
The night started with Izard County’s junior girls beating Cedar Ridge 41-36.

The Mammoth Spring boys went to Jonesboro and beat Ridgefield Christian 70-54. Garet O’Dell was the Bears’ leading scorer with 27 points, Caleb Michaels provided 21, and Ayden Matheny and Blake Rogers each finished with 10.

Melbourne was able to come away with a sweep at Walnut Ridge. The Lady Bearkatz invoked the mercy rule as they routed the Lady Bobcats 61-30. Melbourne’s boys also got past Walnut Ridge 60-54.

Marshall had mixed results in a pair of high school games with Quitman. The Bobcats won the boys’ game over the Bulldogs 79-65. Marshall’s girls did not fare as well as they lost to Quitman 65-54.

Mountain View was able to go on the road and sweep Newport. The Lady Yellowjackets nearly doubled up the Lady Greyhounds 53-27. Mountain View also took the boys’ game 42-37.

The Rural Special boys had a tough road trip. The Rebels suffered a 78-62 defeat at the hands of Shirley.

Omaha’s boys picked up a win on their home floor. The Eagles topped Alpena by a final of 65-42.
