Area braces for Arctic blast and snowfall; latest from NWS

The Twin Lakes area is bracing for sub zero temperatures as an Arctic air mass moves in over the weekend with snow totals forcasted between 2 to 4 inches with more snow possible in higher terrains.

Meterologist Willie Gilmore with the National Weather Service in Little Rock had the following forecast update Friday morning.

A winter weather advisory is effect Friday until noon. Snow and blowing snow expected. Total snow accumulations of a dusting up to one inch. Winds gusting as high as 45 mph throughout portions of northwest and northern Arkansas. Snow and blowing snow could create hazardous travel conditions this morning.

A wind advisory is also effect Friday until midnight with west winds 20 to 30 mph with gusts up to 45 mph expected. Gusty winds could blow around unsecured objects. Tree
limbs could be blown down and a few power outages may result.
