On Saturday, Jonesboro Police helped save a child from drowning in a frozen pond.

Body camera footage posted by the Jonesboro Police Department showed Officer Troy Ellison jumping into action, pulling the child from the water. With the help of Lt. Shon Morris and members of the Jonesboro Fire Department, Officer Ellison crawled onto the ice and pulled the child to safety. The child was taken to a hospital to check for injuries.

Police advised people to be mindful that no matter how cold it gets, playing on ice is never safe.
