This week an art student from Mountain Home High School was announced as one of the winners of a visual arts scholarship competition from the Thea Foundation.

Mountain Home Senior Gabriella Dover was awarded $3,000 in the visual arts category to pursue higher education in fall 2024. The theme “individual and beautiful” inspired 332 students across the state for a chance to be a part of $219,000 worth of scholarships.

The annual competition is for graduating seniors in Arkansas and the Thea Foundation states they “remain a key resource for helping young people across the state receive financial help for education.” They state the five-art based competitions provide an opportunity to secure funding for college based on their talent alone.

The Thea Foundation first started the competition in 2002 and now has an endowment. Since then they have awarded more than $3.1 million in scholarships.

The Thea Foundation’s mission is to advocate the important of Arts in the development of youth.
