Bakersfield, Gainesville boys among Tuesday winners in district play

A few area high school boys’ basketball teams in Missouri began district play on Tuesday.

Three area teams played their openers in the Class 2, District 10 Tournament at Mansfield.
Bakersfield was able to advance to the semifinals after eliminating the host school. In a high-scoring battle between Lions, Bakersfield squeaked by Mansfield 90-87. Bakersfield improves to 17-10 on the season, and they’ll face top-seeded Hartville on Thursday.
Gainesville will also move on to the next round after invoking the mercy rule. The Bulldogs routed Fordland 76-29. Gainesville is now 17-9 on the year.
Gainesville’s next opponent on Thursday will be Norwood. Dora was eliminated by the Pirates with a 69-47 defeat. The Falcons’ season ends at 11-12.

Forsyth won its first game in the Class 3, District 11 Tournament at Sparta. The Panthers topped Pleasant Hope 83-73. Forsyth is now 16-10 on the year, and they’ll take on top-seeded Fair Grove Thursday in the semifinals.
