Mountain Home NJROTC is defeated in last National Air Rifle Shooter League meet

In recent competition, the Mountain Home NJROTC in the National Air Rifle Shooter League by American Legion Post 290 from Stafford, Va. with a score of 950.6 to 920.6.

Shooting their highest team score of the season, Mountain Home NJROTC was led by Karhys Herbert who shot a 241.6. Other contributing members were Emerson Walls, Lukas Pool and Makynly Smith.

Mountain Home NJROTC is ranked twenty-seven with a 0 – 1 record.

American Legion Post 290 was led by Julia Combs who shot a 257.6. Other contributing members were Jeremy Weldon, Deion Evans and Emilynn Mika and their coach Mike Flanagan.

American Legion Post 290 is ranked twenty-fourth with a 1 -1 record.

Mountain Home NJROTC will next compete against Hereford MCJROTC from Hereford, TX.

The teams are competing in the National Air Fire “New Shooter” league. The league, sponsored by Scopos, is a national team league exclusive to athletes in their first year of competition. Teams are from high school and junior rifle clubs throughout the U.S. and over ten weeks each team competes in eight games. Each week, teams are paired with another team of an equal skill level.

In each game the teams compete in the Three-Position Air Rifle match which is modeled after Olympic Rifle competitions. Each athlete shoots ten shots in three different positions, kneeling, prone and standing. Each shot is worth a maximum of 10.9 points. The sum of points scored in 30 shots is the total, with the team score being composed of a team’s best four athletes.
