High school basketball makes up the local Wednesday schedule as regional tournaments begin in Arkansas.
The Class 1A Region 2 Tournament gets underway at West Side High School in Greers Ferry. On the girls’ side, Norfork and Maynard tip off at 4, and Viola faces Mammoth Spring at 7. Viola’s boys meet Marked Tree at 8:30.
The Salem girls will be in Manila for their first game in the Class 3A Region 2 Tournament. The Lady Greyhounds take on Piggott at 7.
The Class 2A Central Regional Tournament starts at Izard County High School in Brockwell. Marshall’s boys play Conway Christian at 5:30, and both of the host Cougar teams will be paired with Bigelow starting with the girls at 7.
Three area teams will play their openers in the Class 1A Region 1 Tournament at Huntsville. The Omaha girls meet Thaden at 4. On the boys’ bracket, Lead Hill faces the New School at 5:30, and Jasper takes on Mulberry at 8:30.
Both of Valley Springs’ teams will go to Booneville for the first night of the Class 3A Region 1 Tournament. The Tiger boys play Hackett at 5:30, and the Valley Springs girls will be matched up with Charleston at 7.
Ozark Mountain’s girls will compete in the opening game of the Class 2A West Regional Tournament at Greenland. The Lady Bears meet Lavaca at 4.
District play continues in Missouri, and two area girls’ teams will return to Mansfield for the semifinals of the Class 2, District 10 Tournament. Bakersfield faces top-seeded Hartville at 5:30, and Gainesville takes on Norwood at 7.
