On Wednesday, the Military Service Sisters received a $500 donation from the Woman Veteran Calendar, a non-profit organization based in San Antonio, Tx.

The mission of the Woman Veteran Calendar is to raise awareness for women veterans, provide support to organizations dedicated to their well-being and empower future female service members. This year, the Military Service Sisters in Arkansas was one of four non-profits organizations to benefit from the calendar sales. Other organizations include She’s the Veteran in South Carolina, Military Women’s Memorial in Virginia and Women Veterans in San Antonio Texas.

Highlighting stories of women veterans, the calendar featured two individuals from Arkansas: Laurie Rottamyer, a US Marine Corps veteran from Marion County and Lt. Col. (Dr) Mandy McCorkindale, a US Air Force veteran and Army Reserve Officer from Washington County.

To support women veterans and their organizations, the 2024 calendars and planners can be purchased online at womanveterancalendar.com.

The Military Service Sisters were founded in Mountain Home and now has chapters in Harrison, Conway, Hot Springs, with more locations planned. Their mission is to build a strong and inclusive community for women veterans in the state, provide them with a space to connect, share their stories, and find camaraderie.
