State wrestling tournament begins Friday in Little Rock

The Arkansas State High School Wrestling Tournament will begin its two-day run Friday on the campus of the University of Arkansas at Little Rock. Both Mountain Home teams will be represented in Class 5A.

Seven Lady Bombers are set to compete. Mackenzi Clark will take part in the 100-pound division, Ellie Miller will wrestle in the 110, Jurzie Guiltner will perform in the 115, Olivia McCoy will compete in the 135, Leigha Gatewood will participate in the 140, Jocelyn Bryant will take part in the 145, and Kenlyee Brown will wrestle in the 235.

Nine Mountain Home athletes will perform on the boys’ side. Bryson Huggins will compete in the 113-pound division, Seth King will participate in the 120, Mason Shimmel will take part in the 138, Zane Darracq will wrestle in the 150, James Wilburn will perform in the 157, Isaiah Merry will compete in the 175, Eason Recktenwald will participate in the 190, Noah Lagg will take part in the 215, and Calin Frounfelter will wrestle in the 285.

One other area athlete will compete in Class 4A. Maverick Woods will represent Mountain View in the 144-pound division.

The first session of competition will begin at 9 at the Jack Stephens Center.
