
The ASU-Mountain Home baseball team had mixed results on Saturday as they met Northeastern Oklahoma A&M for a doubleheader in Miami.
The Trailblazers lost the opener to the Golden Norsemen 6-4. Northeastern Oklahoma began the scoring with a two-run home run in the fourth inning. ASU-Mountain Home went on top in the next frame off a pair of homers by Gabriel Ellison and Jackson Down. The Norsemen recaptured the lead in the sixth with an RBI single and a three-run home run.
John White was the Blazers’ starter as he pitched 5 2/3 innings, struck out four batters and gave up five hits, two walks and four runs. Offensively, Down was 1-for-4 with two RBIs.
ASU-Mountain Home bounced back in the late game and defeated Northeastern Oklahoma 6-2. The offense was alive for the Blazers as they recorded 11 hits, drew nine walks and stole four bases.
Deuce Yaksick took the mound for the first 4 1/3 innings, recorded three strikeouts and gave up four hits, three walks and two runs. Ckyler Tengler threw 2 1/3 shutout innings with four strikeouts, no hits and two walks.
Alex Harrell led the ASU-Mountain Home offense by going 4-for-5; Christopher Tillery was 2-for-4; and Down, Logen Walker and Jason Young each drew two walks.
The two teams will play another doubleheader on Sunday. The first game begins at 1.
