
A West Plains man has been arrested after fleeing on foot from officers while they attempted to arrest him for outstanding warrants.
On Tuesday, the West Plains Police Department were investigating a burglary at a residence along Hubert Redburn Drive when they observed the suspect’s vehicle and attempted to make contact with them. The suspect, identified as Brandon Stokes, then fled from officers on foot.
Two days later, officers responded to a call along Walnut Street at approximately 1:15 in the afternoon to arrest Stokes on outstanding warrants of domestic assault and kidnapping. When officers made contact with Stokes, he led officers on a short chase on foot. Stokes continued to resist arrest, but was eventually taken into custody. One officer sustained injuries during the altercation.
Stokes is facing additional charges of assault 2nd degree special victim, resisting arrest for a felony and unlawful possession of an illegal weapon.
