A Cotter man is accused of threatening a woman at his apartment and resisting when being taken into custody. Twenty-seven-year-old Harly Knuckles was booked into the Baxter County Detention Center on Feb. 25 and released four days later on a bond of $2,350.

According to the incident report, a Baxter County deputy was dispatched to the apartment on Harding Boulevard and met with the victim and the apartment manager. They escorted the deputy into Knuckles’ apartment, but he had reportedly left through the back window.

While another deputy was searching for Knuckles, the victim stated he had yelled and made threats toward her, but it wasn’t physical. She said the only thing he touched was the rocker holding a baby. The female stated Knuckles picked up the bouncer and set it on the couch with the baby inside.

The initial responding deputy then heard a noise from the shop area of the apartment complex. The deputy walked over and found Knuckles standing outside the area with blood coming from his mouth. The deputy asked Knuckles if he would be willing to have ambulance personnel look at him, but he aggressively refused.

Knuckles was reportedly stumbling and slurring his speech. He admitted he had been drinking. The deputy asked Knuckles to walk to the patrol car, and he did before he turned back and said he wanted to talk to the female and the baby. The deputy refused and wanted to administer a preliminary breath test. After the deputy grabbed his arm, Knuckles allegedly shook his arm free and threatened to knock the deputy out.

Knuckles reportedly walked toward the deputy, who then drew a taser. As he became more aggressive, the second deputy came from behind and assisted him to the ground. They eventually got Knuckles on his stomach and put his hands behind his back in restraints.

Knuckles is facing charges of third-degree domestic battering, third-degree endangering the welfare of a minor, obstructing governmental operations, resisting arrest and public intoxication. He is ordered not to have contact with the victim, and the Child Abuse Hotline was notified of the incident.
