On Tuesday, Marion County officials confirmed approximately 40 hybrid wolves had escaped their confinement near Wanda’s Mountain along Arkansas Highway 14 South near Yellville.

According to a press release from Marion County Sheriff Gregg Alexander, rumors were circulating regarding the wolf-hybrids being released into the community. Alexander states when he visited the owner of the Wolf/Hybrid Compound, it was confirmed the animals did dig out of their confinement and as 12:30 in the afternoon, all had returned with the exception of six.

The owner states six are still at-large and if they cause trouble to anyone, they need to be disposed of.

Sheriff Alexander noted as he visited the owner, he saw several animals in the yard and on porches and all seemed to be well-fed and cared for.

Since some animals still have not returned to the compound, Sheriff Alexander advises the community to be watchful when out and about in the area.
