Some changes have been announced to Baxter Health’s behavioral health services. The Behavioral Health Clinic has been closed, and the services will be offered via a telehealth program through the system’s primary care physician clinics.

Ashley Johnson and Michelle Marcak of Baxter Health Behavioral Health Services recently spoke with KTLO, Classic Hits and The Boot’s Heather Loftis. Johnson says while the clinic location is closed, behavioral health professionals will continue to see patients.

Anyone needing the behavioral health services at Baxter Health must have a primary care physician through the system. Johnson and Marcak says the positive thing about that is Baxter Health’s clinic system goes well beyond Mountain Home.

Behavioral health services can include therapy and counseling, evaluation and treatment for common diagnoses (depression, anxiety disorders, panic disorder, post-traumatic stress disorder, obsessive compulsive disorder, etc.) and medication management. Services through the Baxter Health system are only available to legal adults, and clinics outside the system do not have access.

When it comes to dealing with or treating mental health, there is a stigma that can go with it. Johnson says that’s another benefit with the telehealth program.
