An investigation by local, regional and federal authorities resulted in the arrest of an area man facing child pornography charges. Forty-eight-year-old Larry Dean Morrison Jr. of Ava was booked into the Douglas County Jail on a felony count of first-degree promoting child pornography and two felony counts of second-degree possession of child pornography.
Douglas County Sheriff Chris Degase says a search warrant was served Monday morning on Posey Street in Ava by him, Ava Police Chief David Overcast and a member of the Southwest Missouri Cyber Crimes Task Force in conjunction with the Multi-Jurisdictional Task Force, composed of sheriff’s officers from Ozark and Douglas counties and Ava police officers. Numerous electronic devices were reportedly seized from Morrison’s residence and will be sent for digital forensic examination. The Springfield office of the Department of Homeland Security also assisted in the investigation.
Morrison is currently being held without bond.
