
A Taney County man has been arrested following a shooting against an officer. David Viner is facing multiple charges including assault on a special victim and armed criminal action.
According to KYTV, law enforcement responded to a road rage incident near the intersection of Missouri Highway 76 and U.S. Highway 160 north of Kissee Mills on Tuesday night around 10. Taney County Sheriff deputies state they asked for mutual aid from the Forsyth Police Department. When the suspect saw deputies, Viner fired seven shots, two of them possibly hitting the Forsyth officer. Deputies were able to arrest Viner shortly after.
The officer was released from the hospital shortly after the shooting, where officials state the bulletproof vest saved the officer’s life.
Taney Count Sheriff Brad Daniels stated, “There were some immediate reports from a witness that stated he saw a couple of folks walking away from the vehicle that was in the area, best we can confirm from actual witnesses that saw the subject and the subject at the vehicle in question, there was just one.”
According to the Sheriff Daniels, no shots were fired by officers or deputies.
